Charts are powerful overviews of items. A chart groups items and shows the absolute or relative size of the groups in a variety of ways. The chart view allows pie charts, bar charts and more types of charts. With the chart view you have easy to read, on-screen reports that are ready to print. The charts also give easy access to the items in the groups.
A chart groups items and shows the size of each group. The size of the group can mean different things, for example:
Different types of charts show the groups differently. Pie charts show the groups in relative sizes. The whole pie represents all items. Often, pie charts show the group sizes as percentages of the total pie. Bar charts can show the items in absolute sizes. The scale at the side shows the unit used to calculate the group size. Other chart types are also available.
To show the items in the groups, double-click on a group. At the bottom of the view a table will then show the items.
To use the chart in another application, such as a word processor or a presentation program, choose Copy from the Edit menu. Then switch to the application where you want to use the chart and choose Paste from the other application's Edit menu.
