HP OpenView Service Desk is a very flexible application. Views,
forms and the console can be modified to fit your companies needs.
In this page you learn how to resize forms, views and the console,
and how to find the information not shown on a resized object.
In the console
At the left hand side of the console you find the shortcut bar. In
the shortcut bar you can place icons. If you click on the icon in
the shortcut bar, the view that is related to the icon is shown at
the right-hand side of the console. If you use the HP OpenView
Service Desk console as your main desktop, the number of icons can
be large. If the icons do not all fit in the visible area of the
shortcut group, then one or two buttons will appear in the shortcut
bar as shown in the following picture.
Do one of the following:
Click the up arrow to find shortcuts that are above the visible
area. Click the down arrow to find shortcuts that are below the
visible area.
Resize the console. Move the mouse to the
lower right hand corner of the console. The mouse pointer changes
into double-headed arrow, as shown in the picture below.
Then drag the lower right hand corner to the correct size. To drag
the corner, click and hold the left mouse button and then move the
mouse before you release the button.
Maximize the console. Click the maximize button ( ) at the upper right hand corner of the
console.
Move some icons from a crowded shortcut group to a shortcut
group with less icons.
If resizing does not produce the desired results, do one of the
following:
In a table view:
Use the scroll bars at the right and
bottom side of the view to see more lines or more columns of the
view.
Resize the column width. To resize the
column, move your mouse over the right side edge of the column
header. The mouse pointer changes, as shown in the following
picture.
Then drag the edge to size the column. To drag the edge, click and
hold the left mouse button and then move the mouse before you
release the button.
Use the scroll bars at the right and
bottom side of the view to see more cards.
Change the cards' contents so they show less fields. This way
more cards are shown.
A chart view sizes to the area it is given. Resizing the console gives a chart more space. If
too much information is shown in the chart, then the chart may get
cluttered. Try to remove labels in the chart or simplify the
chart.
In an HTML view, you can only resize the
console to the size of the HTML page.
In a form
Button names in forms are sometimes cut off. To find the full name
of the button, rest the mouse over the button to find the ToolTip
of the button, as shown in the following picture.
A form can contain many fields and many tab pages. You can make
a form very small, but this may result in fields or tab pages that
fall off the form. To find all fields and tab pages:
Resize the form. Move the mouse to the lower right hand corner
of the form. The mouse pointer changes into the resize pointer, as
shown in the picture below.
Then drag the lower right hand corner to the correct size. To drag
the corner, click and hold the left mouse button and then move the
mouse before you release the button.
Maximize the form. Click the maximize button ( ) at the upper right hand corner of the
form.
If tab pages are not shown in the visible area of the form,
then there are two buttons shown at the right hand side of the tabs
row.
Click on the right button to see tabs not visible at the right hand
side of the tab row. Click on the left button to see tabs not
visible at the left hand side of the tabs row.
