Copying information to other programs

You can copy information from table views or card views to most programs that can use the Windows clipboard. Use this capability to analyze data in Microsoft Excel or to include the information in your existing reports in Microsoft Word. There are two ways to copy information, using drag and drop or using copy and paste. In the following description Microsoft Excel is used as an example of an application to which you can copy information. Instead of Excel you can use any program that can use the Windows clipboard.

To drag and drop information to Microsoft Excel:

1. Start Microsoft Excel.
2. Activate the Service Desk console and resize the console. The console should only partly cover the Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, the upper left cell where you want to put the first line of the information should still be visible.
3. Make your selection in Service Desk:
   • In the table view, select the rows you want to copy to Microsoft Excel.
   • In the card view, select the cards you want to copy to Microsoft Excel.
4. Click and hold the mouse button in one of the selected rows or cards.
5. Drag the selection from the Service Desk console to the Microsoft Excel worksheet. Position the mouse pointer over the worksheet cell where you want to put the selection.
6. Release the mouse button.

To copy and paste information to Microsoft Excel:

1. Start Microsoft Excel.
2. Make your selection in Service Desk:
   • In the table view, select the rows you want to copy to Microsoft Excel.
   • In the card view, select the cards you want to copy to Microsoft Excel.
3. Press Ctrl+C on the keyboard or choose Copy from the Edit menu.
4. Switch to Microsoft Excel and select the cell where you want the information to start.
5. Press Ctrl+V on the keyboard or choose Paste from the Edit menu.
